John’s Story after seeing Dr. Clark Taylor
“Quite frankly I wish I had the surgery done 20 years ago. I wish it would have been my first ditch effort if there is such a thing, rather than the last-ditch effort because all those other surgeries did nothing but cause me pain really.”
"I had the septoplasty done, the UPPP, the uvulopaletopharyngoplasty, tonsillectomy, which was a horrific experience. Then when I was out of the military I had when I was back in Helena I had a sinoplasty done, another septoplasty done and it didn’t fix anything because the problem isn’t up in here (gesture’s to nose), it’s down in here (gesture’s to throat.)"
John researched Sleep Apnea and found Clark Taylor M.D., D.D.S. had performed MMA surgeries for over 31 years with a 95-99 percent success rate. He knew that this was his ‘last ditch’ effort to find a better life.
“Even wearing the CPAP mask at night, during the day I struggled with exhaustion, fatigue, fell asleep at my desk at times, I had a hard time getting out of my chair a lot of days. My health was deteriorating, I gained 40 pounds in the last five or six years prior to the surgery and had a number of health issues. I had a very negative outlook on life in general and had done a lot of research on sleep apnea and know that it kills a little piece of you every night.”
“It (sleep apnea) affected every part of my life, particularly my relationship with my wife. We have always had a good relationship, but I didn’t have the energy she did. I couldn’t keep up with her whether we were working around the house or recreating and had a very negative outlook on just about everything in my life.”
In 2016, John called Surgical Sleep Solutions to schedule his appointment. John stated, “One month after the surgery, we were doing some work at my mother’s house and my wife looked at me and she said, “Who are you? In the 24 years we have been married you have never had this much energy.” It has been a life altering event, I feel more alive and more excited to be alive than I have in my entire life. I feel like I’m 30 years younger, and it has improved every aspect of my life. It has improved my relationship with my wife, it has improved my performance at work, and it is unbelievable how much it has changed my life.”

Dr. Clark Taylor saved my life, my marriage, and my sanity! I had the most severe case of Sleep Apnea the VA had ever seen. I normally for the past 28 years would sleep in 20 minute increments for 2 hours, be up for a while and repeat. I would be tired, irritable, and unmotivated all day. I was on medicine for depression, pre-diabetes, and high cholesterol. Within 48 hours of the surgery I was sleeping through the night. It has been a little more than 30 days now, I sleep FANTASTIC through the night, am happy, energetic, and well rested. I CAN BREATHE for the first time! I am a new man! To date I have lost over 30 lbs. and I have joined a gym! My wife is able to sleep through the night now instead of staying awake to make sure I breathe and my snoring. I am not grumpy anymore according to my wife. Thank you Dr. Taylor for saving my life, marriage, and sanity!

Cliff Abraham, Belgrade Montana
Cliff Abraham is a 49-year-old resident of Belgrade, Montana, who drives commercial vehicles and repairs heavy equipment for a living. Abraham suffered from obstructive sleep apnea for years before receiving maxillomandibular advancement surgery (MMA) surgery through Surgical Sleep Solutions. He is now effectively cured of his sleep disorder.
“I didn’t realize that being able to breath and get a good night sleep had that much of an impact on my life,” Abraham said. “What changed that was taking a chance.”
Obstructive sleep apnea was affecting every aspect of Abraham’s life, from his relationship to his wife to his ability to provide for his family. He was suffering from severe daytime drowsiness and had difficulty concentrating. His sleep wasn’t restful.
A doctor referred him to Clark O. Taylor, M.D., D.D.S., who has been performing MMA surgeries for over thirty years. After researching the procedure, hearing about the 95-99 percent success rate, and imagining life with a CPAP machine or tortured sleep, Abraham decided to take the leap.
“Life is a lot better than what it used to be before the surgery,” he said. “A lot of people look forward to going to bed because they are tired. I look forward to going to bed because when I wake up in the morning… I am rested. I have energy within minutes. You’re just ready to go for the day. I get to work and I am ready to start my day. I know what I’m going to be doing. As opposed to before, when I’d get to work and it would take me two or three hours to get focused and get going on things.”
Other sleep apnea treatments and solutions did not work for Abraham – and, unlike a number of other OSA sufferers, Abraham had already made lifestyle changes that can sometimes improve the condition. Only after his MMA surgery did his symptoms disappear, allowing him to sleep restfully and breathe without waking.
“[This surgery] changed my life because I believe that at age 49, I started to live,” he said. “Everything [Dr. Taylor] told me was true, day by day, week by week. There were no exaggerations. There were no false claims. What he told me was going to happen, happened. By seeing Dr. Taylor, and going through the procedure, he gave me life. A life I never knew was out there. And it’s a fun life. I’m enjoying it.”

After three more years of searching for solutions, ruined vacations, stress on my marriage and family, I was sure this was all life had to offer. Then I was referred to Dr. Taylor. I was immediately impressed and comforted by Dr. Taylor’s medical background in his field. Learning of his lengthy experience coupled with the computer guiding surgery, I was confident that the telegnathic surgery was the best opportunity I have to effectively treat my sleep apnea and snoring. I was cautious with my hopes in fear of being disappointed again if the surgery was only a minor success. I am now very happy to say I was proven wrong!
After the surgery I noticed immediately the difference in my ability to breathe better. I expected the recovery to be painful and long – not so. Each day that went by showed leaps and bounds of improvement in pain and discomfort. After day three I was off all pain medications, discomfort now easily tolerated. That third night was the most restful sleep I had ever had, until the better nights following. My wife didn’t know I was in bed with her until she woke the next morning. ALL the snoring is gone, and my sleep apnea is under control. I feel healthier, physically and mentally, full of energy, and ready to start my new future!
Thank you Dr. Taylor and your most respectful, friendly staff, for giving me a life I never knew was possible!

I hadn’t slept this well in 20 years” I heard this from both of the patients I interviewed. Patients who had had the mandibular and maxillary advancement procedure by Dr. Clark Taylor. I had heard about this procedure many years ago when I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea and thought it was extreme at the least. After wrestling with the CPAP machine for 10 years and finding that I still have some apnea, my sleep doctor suggested that I look into this procedure and she recommended Dr. Clark Taylor at the Cosmetic Surgical Arts Centre in Missoula MT. I am very happy that I did. I can now add my comment “ I haven’t slept this well in 20 years” My trepidation about this procedure disappeared when Dr. Taylor explained how carefully it was done and how mathematical and computer calculations guided the movement and placement of the jaw. The staff at CSAC is very friendly and professional. The course of postsurgical healing was explained prior to the surgery and to date has been accurate. Thank you Dr. Taylor and all the staff at the Cosmetic Surgical Arts Centre.
I am 50, active, physically fit; but I have sleep apnea and a snoring problem.
Having oxygen levels down to the high seventies to low eighties percentile during nightly sleep, obviously left my physical and mental health in shambles. To add to that, I hadn’t had a night’s sleep with my wife next to me in many years. I started with the CPAP to help with my sleep apnea and severe snorting. After fighting with every CPAP piece of hardware available, an ENT recommended I have the UPPP, LAUP, sinus and tongue surgeries. After an extremely long and very painful recovery with nuisance side effects, the results only modestly improved my sleep apnea and only made the pitch of my snoring higher and more intrusive to my family. The constant disappointment with every procedure left me with no hope for my future.

When I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea, I valiantly attempted conservative treatment with CPAP. Each night I would fall asleep with my CPAP mask firmly attached and would wake the next morning to find it laying on the floor next to my bed. After unsuccessful treatment from other surgeons, I was referred to Dr. Taylor for evaluation and treatment of my severe obstructive sleep apnea. Although I knew that medically it was imperative to treat my condition, that the pain was not nearly that which I expected and found that I had immediate relief from all of my sleep apnea symptoms. Thank you, Dr. Taylor, for providing a cutting edge surgical solution for my sleep apnea and to your entire medical staff for their caring support during my recovery.

My sincere thanks to Tim, Ashley, Carl, Chris, Kendra (and all the artists on your team that I didn't personally meet) and to the team leader and master surgeon, Dr. Taylor!
Please accept my deep appreciation for the excellent service that you so graciously provided me. You are all wonderfully talented and gifted professionals and I am now a better person having received the touch of your hands. I wish for the words to fully express my gratitude for the gift you have given to me- Breath! Can you fathom from your own personal experiences how incredible it is to be able to draw a full deep breath of air? For 11 1/2 years I have slept plugged into a machine to keep me breathing. Even so, I frequently failed to get the help I needed from my CPAP and would wake up with a panic and gasp for a breath. Now I sleep! And when awake, I breathe better!
Please extend my thanks to Dr. Ochs when you see him next.
Cynthia joins me in this note of thanks.
